Ansgar is a Lecturer in Education at the University of Sheffield and the author of several books, including a short history of Cynicism (MIT Press), and the novella, Wretch (Schism Press). He co-founded and edits Risking Education, an imprint of Punctum Books, and Hoopoe Industries.

His writing has appeared across diverse a range of journals, books, and media, and has appeared in translation in Spanish, German, Estonian, and Greek. He is based in Sheffield, UK.
